About Wrendale Designs
Wrendale Designs are an award-winning publisher of greeting cards, stationery and giftware featuring the characterful watercolor artwork of artist Hannah Dale. Amongst a love of the outdoors (and the occasional cup of tea) we pride ourselves on producing high quality design-led products which often feature added little touches to make them extra special.
Est. 2012
Hannah Dale began Wrendale Designs in 2012 on a crowded kitchen table in Melton Ross, Lincolnshire.
Having a pretty eclectic background (studying art at school before reading Zoology at Cambridge University followed by five years as a stockbroker in London), Hannah found herself married to a Lincolnshire farmer with a young baby and a desperation to find an outlet for her artistic roots.
Being a practical sort, she turned her hand to sewing, furnishing the windows of many friends and family with beautiful curtains and blinds, and also making personalized nursery paintings for children which proved very popular.
Inspired by nature
Inspired by the glorious Lincolnshire countryside, Hannah started to paint hares; loving their expressive faces and wonderful personalities.
After printing these designs as greeting cards based on her own watercolour artwork on a beautifully textured board, she began sharing these with local gift shops and they were an immediate success.
Hannah expanded her repertoire and began painting other animals – the rest as they say is history!
Industry Awards
Since then the company has won many prestigious awards in recognition of their successes. In 2021 Hannah was awarded a NatWest Everywoman Award, given to the most inspirational woman running a business trading from 6 to 9 years. Wrendale have also received five Henries awards (the Oscars of the greeting card industry!) for their wonderful greeting cards and the ‘Country Set’ card collection continues to be a best-seller worldwide.
Over the years Wrendale have also received several Gift of the Year awards for their stationery and giftware as well as picking up a UK Calendar Award for their beautifully illustrated family calendar.
Wrendale were awarded a Queens Award for export in 2019 for their excellence in international trade and Hannah and Jack were received at Buckingham Palace to celebrate the award.Their success continues to soar overseas with customers falling in love with Hannah’s characterful designs.
Wrendale Collections
In 2012 a collaboration with Portmeirion saw Hannah’s designs appear on mugs, ceramics, and melamine kitchen items and since then the Wrendale range has continued to grow from cards and stationery to include an extensive collection of giftware, homeware and accessories.
Collector’s of the range will love the country kitchen collection, including teapots, plates, and napkins, as well as canvas prints, clocks and jigsaw puzzles with everything one might need to create a wonderful Wrendale home.

A family business
As the business has grown, it has become a family affair and Hannah’s husband Jack now runs the business with a wonderful team in place at our offices in Brigg, UK making sure everything else runs smoothly... we call it the Wrendale family.
Hannah focuses on what she enjoys most – painting, producing wonderful watercolor designs for us all to enjoy. ‘The Country Set’ card collection now includes over 200 different designs, with an array of wildlife to choose from.
